Marking One Year of Fresh Start Money Coaching and Introducing the Fresh Start Financial Flourish Program.

I realized this month that its been a year since going “public” with Fresh Start Money Coaching (then called Fresh Start Budgeting) in December 2022. I had been coaching clients and working on my training as a YNAB certified coach prior to this, but I will count last December as the official launch of my business.

In this post, I reflect on my journey to date and introduce my new foundational money coaching program called Fresh Start Financial Flourish.

Reflecting back, I’ve come a long way in one short year! I have learned a lot and my coaching style, program, and web site continue to evolve every day. Change is the only constant, as they say.

Thankfully, I am not the type of person to seek perfection before jumping into something or I still wouldn’t have launched.

Case in point, this cringey Facebook post at the beginning of my social media journey, when the business was still called Fresh Start Budgeting:

Actually maybe it’s not THAT bad. I do still like the gardening vibe.

I continue to be quite mediocre at social media (follow me on Facebook or Instagram), but I keep going with it and have reached a point where I am enjoying the creativity (and this says a lot from someone who would much rather play around with spreadsheets than Canva graphics).

During the past year, I also made a significant shift in my offerings. At the beginning of my journey, I thought I would focus on budgeting and using YNAB (You Need a Budget - the best zero-based budgeting app in the land). But, as I started working with clients by jumping straight into budgeting, I realized that this focus was limiting the progress that my clients could make in their money management journeys. My coaching has evolved to cover goal setting, mindset, and habits. I also now understand the value in looking backwards, forward, and from above with my clients at their finances. I still do love YNAB and encourage my clients to use it as their budgeting tool but it is not the only focus their program.

All of this learning and development has brought me to the next iteration of my money coaching journey: I'm excited to introduce my brand new four-phase money coaching program called Fresh Start Financial Flourish. Yes, you’ll be happy to know I’m still going with the gardening metaphors! 👩‍🌾 (My mom will, anyway).

If you decide to jump in and sign up, by the end of the program, you will have a crystal clear understanding of your financial picture, a day-to-day money management system, healthy financial habits, rock solid routines, and a plan in motion to reach your long term financial goals. That’s a lot of value!

Here are the four phases of the program (check out my web site for more details):

Phase 1: Clarity. We look at your finances from two directions: backwards (at your past spending) and from above (at the “big picture” of your financial situation using the Financial Fit Check and other tools).  You will identify and solidify your short, medium, and long-term financial goals.

Phase 2: Control. The focus shifts to day-to-day money management. You'll create and learn to use a personalized budget aligned with your goals and explore effective strategies like automation and account simplification to streamline your financial processes.

Phase 3: Consistency. This crucial phase hones in on developing effective money management routines, reinforcing healthy financial habits, and addressing any mindset shifts essential for long-term financial well-being.

Phase 4: Cultivation. As we approach the program's conclusion, we'll dedicate time to looking ahead. You'll become comfortable using a retirement calculator and you will craft a detailed plan for your money that extends well beyond our time together.

Fresh Start Financial Flourish is a one-on-one coaching program so although we will follow the four phases above, we may spend longer on one phase than the other. I do not insist on a particular step-by-step approach to achieving financial stability or prosperity. We will talk through the pros and cons of various approaches and you will decide your path.

This is not a passive program. To be a good fit, you are ready to do the work and open to making making some big shifts in the way you spend and manage your money. In return, you will learn skills and make changes that will continue to benefit you for the rest of your life.

So, that’s the pitch! Are you ready to dig in? If you or someone you know may be interested in working with me, please book a free and absolutely no-pressure discovery call.

Here’s to more learning, development, and change in the years to come, both yours and mine!
